The Organisation:

Quality Bearings Online Ltd (QBOL) is a multi-award-winning company, supplying bearings and engineering spares to customers in over 110 countries. Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, the business has always understood that to become the best in its field it needs to deliver an outstanding service. A value the leaders of the business, Denny Maude, Simon Riley, and Sam Moss, live and breathe every day, and as such are constantly looking for how to improve the way they work.

The Challenge:

Over the last few years QBOL has carved out its position in the market it serves very successfully, providing strong and sustainable growth. Through recent changes in the organisation, Denny, Simon, and Sam have seen the need to solidify their business processes, enabling them to stay ahead of the game and provide a springboard for further growth. They knew they could do this internally, but recognised the benefit of having an external perspective to both accelerate the process and challenge their thinking. So, they turned to The Excellence Partnership Ltd (TXP).

The Approach:

Working with the entire business Stewart Villaweaver deployed the TXP Process Excellence framework which involved:

  • Developing the understanding of process excellence in the business through an experiential learning exercise.
  • Reviewing the current processes to see the issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Creating a future state for the business to implement Process Excellence.
  • Creating a plan to transform how the business operates, to realise the future state.
  • Implementing the improvement plan to deploy Process Excellence throughout QBOL.
  • Carrying out an audit to ratify the new processes had been deployed and were working effectively.

The Outcome:

Changing the way the business operates and embedding a Process Excellence framework has helped the organisation become more efficient and effective, enhancing the service it provides its customers. Strengthening QBOL’s modus operandi to support its plans for growth.

Sam Moss, the COO, said, “working with TXP has been fantastic and fun, and they’ve both challenged our thinking and helped us implement new processes far quicker than if we’d tried to do it ourselves. We now have an excellent base for the whole organisation to grow in line with exciting plans for expansion. We’re really grateful for their facilitation and their inclusion of the whole QBOL team, who fully embraced with the change.
